The seven-year contract for nationwide support services was awarded in 2006 and is worth around £320 million
This follows the DWP’s strategic decision in 2005, to move from regionally-based contracts for office support services, delivered through in-house and external suppliers, to a single national contract
This transition was made to meet needs including reduced procurement spend, reduced operating costs and a consistent standard of service across all regions and business units
The office support services contract involves the full range of office services and vehicle fleet management to more than 1,400 buildings across the UK
In total, 3,600 people will work on the contract to provide secretarial and administrative services
The business has been working with the DWP since 1995 and has had responsibility for facilities management services for southern England since 1999
There is also an option to extend the contract by a further three years
