- Balfour Beatty Communities was formally awarded this Department
of the Navy (DoN) project on February 26, 2004 for the military
housing privatization of Navy-owned housing in the Northeast region
of the United States located on eight installations in five states,
with an end state of 2,921 housing units.
- The project was transferred as of November 1, 2004 with over
5,000 homes.
- This privatisation project involves construction of
high-quality homes, targeted renovation of other homes and the
addition of community enhancing facilities and services. Utility
systems (water, electric, sewer, storm, gas) have been
improved/repaired throughout the region.
- At the time that this project was awarded, it was the largest
multi-installation, multi-state military housing privatisation
project ever awarded.
- Amenities include community centers, sports courts, tot lots
and swimming pools or spray-grounds.
- The 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) report altered the
end-state of this project from 4,264 to 2,921 homes for the entire
project.
- The Initial Development Period project costs are estimated to
be in excess of $480 million.
- Balfour Beatty Communities is the Managing Member, Developer,
Renovator and Property Manager of this project.
