Balfour Beatty delivers accommodation solutions to defence sectors in the UK and the US. In the UK, we work for the Navy and the Royal Air Force. We also provide services through the Ministry of Defence's (MoD) Prime Contracting initiative, the procurement strategy of choice for Defence Estates. In the US, we are a key player in the specialist PPP-based military housing market, through which all on-base married-status accommodation is being upgraded nationwide.
In the UK, Mansell is involved in the provision and maintenance of accommodation for service staff in the British armed forces. It is also a partner of Defence Estates in a seven-year framework for the upgrade of United States forces' married families' houses at RAF Lakenheath.
Balfour Beatty Construction has delivered two contracts at HMS Nelson for Defence Estates, the second of which reached completion in 2007. The project, worth £15.4 million, added a further 300 bedrooms to the 500 previously delivered.
In the States, Balfour Beatty Construction US has recently secured two major new contracts, including a US Navy south-east privatised housing project in March 2007, worth $525 million. The second project is a $140 million contract for military housing at the US Army’s major military recruitment and training centre in Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
